We are so blessed to have been able to find you amongst all the available dance coaches in Singapore. Being able to pull off something like that required a coach that was not just skilled in the technical aspect but also professional in understanding us as the dancers, knowing how to manage us, advise us, and guide us. What really impressed me was Skye didn’t just treat us like his clients, he shaped us to be more sensitive to each other, as partners. Because partner dancing is beyond the steps, the amount of chemistry we had to develop certainly made us grow in our relationship.

Fun Facts:

  • First Dance song of choice: Everything I Need – Skylar Grey
  • Entourage Dance: Pop by Nsync, Lady Marmalade, Every Time We Touch – Cascada, Shut Up and Dance – Walk The Moon
  • Number of classes: 4 (Couple) + 2 (Entourage, Brothers and Sisters)

A quick Q&A with Ian and Glenys

1. What made the both of you decide to embark on the journey?
We wanted to discover each other out of our comfort zones. While we both have some dance experience growing up, it was never together, and we always watched this sort of things only in movies. We thought it will be one of the most daring things we have ever done as a couple.

2. How was the entire preparation and journey like for the both of you?
It was rather hectic as the decision to really do it only came 3 months before the big day. Juggling the planning and other errands, we had to practice with an open heart and with commitment. I think we unlocked a part of our relationship where we had to trust each other more than ever. It wasn’t easy but it was very fulfilling.

3. What was your experience on the wedding day itself? What do your friends and family think about it?
We didn’t have enough time to really be ready for it on the actual day itself but I guess that’s where the preparation paid off. Mentally and physically we just knew we had enough to make it work. I think we knew that it was our dance and we just had to enjoy the moment no matter what. Drop all the worries and let it flow. The amount of positive feedback we received was overwhelming. Everyone was very surprised we actually wanted to do it. Our families were proud of us for putting up a good show. I think the general feedback was we made the wedding truly ours with our dance segment.

4. Looking back and watching the videos of the both of you on the special day itself, what are your thoughts?
The dance looked great not just because of the physical attributes but I saw the real emotions we had for one another, it was just like when we first met seven years ago, there was that spark with a little of shyness. It was amazing being able to watch it from a 3rd person point of view.

5. How was your experience with our instructor?
And yes! So with that, Skye had to understand and breakdown our couple dynamics, before he could teach us or choreograph our performance. We want to thank you (Skye) for being part of our journey, because even though the decision to dance was ours, but the ability to make the magic happen with a decent performance was all down to you. Thank you for the trust, confidence and expertise, I will always highly recommend you to any couple looking to make their magical moment become reality!
